Shangri-La Diet ~Seth Roberts~

Download this episode (52 min)
Seth Roberts Ph.D. is an associate professor of psychology at UC Berkeley who has been using himself as a lab rat for over 20 years. Seth started his experimentation with personal problems: acne, depression, insomnia, and weight control. Seth's methodology is so basic, experimenting with hundreds of solutions until one works, that it creates the ultimate results. Seth's mood-lifter? Watch at least an hour of TV each morning-- particularly talking heads-- but never at night. Anthropological research confirms that early humans had lots of face-to-face contact every morning but very little after dark. Seth's method for weight control? Take two servings of extra-light olive oil at specific times of day and the appetite recedes. This is a simple, effective strategy for controlling the body's "set point," or weight thermostat.
